A "Full" Weekend...

My weekend was well spent. Great food and wonderful friends, how could anyone go wrong right??

We started Friday with a few drinks at Warehouse and then headed over to Gav, as Laurence would say, and stayed 'til 3 or 4 in the morning. Though the bar wasn't as packed as previous years, the party and the crowd was pretty okay. Almost all my closest friends were there so I couldn't complain. RR even took the ledge and danced like she was single. Hehe. She was back in her element.

Saturday was then the day of RR's pseudo surprise birthday party. Though a few couldn't make it, the dinner turned out quite well. We all took the time to catch up with each other and basically just bond and relive several fun and memorable moments.

The complimentary bread and the balsamic vinegar/olive oil dip was YUMM! The dip's secret ingredient was pureed kiamoy (secretly asking around for the recipe now). My paella was great. It was worth the two hours we all endured waiting for the food. I was warned by the restaurant that service would be slow on the (Oct) 4th, but I honestly didn't expect the wait to be that long. Maybe because the table outside had showbiz personalities (I could only name Donita, cause she's the only one I know by name) and some BIG basketball players.

Then on Sunday we were off to Bawai's Vietnamese House and Chateu Hestia for lunch and dessert. Bawai's was quite a disappointment. I was reading all these great reviews about the place, so my expectations were quite high. The pho beef was alright, the wrapping for the fresh spring roll was pretty thick, the fillet's curry flavor was a bit too strong, and the shrimp puff on the sugarcane wasn't anything spectacular. And to add to that, the servers were quite loud and kept peeking out the window while we were eating. (the window was right beside our table!) The only thing that did save the whole meal were the dry noodles and the Vietnamese version of the sapin sapin. Those were really good.

After a disappointing lunch, we headed over to Chateu Hestia which was right beside Bawai for dessert. The area that we saw was spectacular. Great for intimate gatherings and quiet nights. The restaurant was wonderful. The ambiance was very cozy and had a "homey" feel. The dessert on the other hand was awful. My apple pie's crust was a bit too thick, while Jah's mango sansrival should've been correctly renamed to mango refrigerated cake. Mike's dessert was the only thing that salvaged the whole thing, ferrero ice cream. Yum!

It was simply just a fun weekend with lots of food and wonderful moments with great friends. =)
